Plein Air Bartow 2009 Look for the art in BartowPlein-Air (Fr. plen-er), term used for paintings or drawings made in the open air from nature. The tradition of painting en plein air, or painting the landscape “in the open air”, began with the European impressionists. A true plein air painting is done on location, capturing the atmosphere of the moment with its fleeting light and color. The public is encouraged to come out and experience art in the making. Expect to see streetscapes, lovely old homes, lush gardens, canopy roads, or graceful tree lined banks of quiet lakes as they develop on canvas. A list of artists with their general painting locations will be available at the information booth. Schedule of Events |
